Gaming as a Learning Platform: Minecraft in the Classroom

We will focus on the reasons why educators incorporate games, including video games such as Minecraft, into the classroom experience and what this can look like in many subject areas and grade levels. Our focus will include independent learning that many young people undertake using Minecraft as well as formal experiences in traditional classroom settings.

Diane Main serves as Director of Learning, Innovation and Design (9-12) at The Harker School in San Jose, California. She is also adjunct faculty for San Diego State University's Learning Design and Technology department and MERIT/KCI faculty at Krause Center for Innovation and Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, California.
